Musicals Flower Girl

Broadway has been a big part of my life since childhood. My earliest memory is seeing Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. It was glorious. The music was good but I really liked the costumes. They were beautiful and colorful. I also remember going to the Paper Mill Playhouse. This is close to my home. The first play I saw there was Guys and Dolls. It was either 20003 or 2004. I really liked the music in this one. And the best thing about the Paper Mill Playhouse is that it's a historical building. It has been open since 1938 and it's very beautiful. What was the first musical you saw? And where did you see it?

  I saw Ordinary Angels in East Hanover at the beginning of March.  It was based on a true story, about a struggling hairdresser who was raising money for a young girl who needed a liver transplant. The hairdresser, Sharon, is a recovering alcoholic and wanted to do some good for someone else. When she saw the ad in a store about a young girl needing a liver transplant, she wanted to help. She raised the money doing haircuts for people who in turn donated money for the transplant.  The story takes place in Kentucky in 1994 during the winter blast. Transportation was bad, no one was going anywhere and the young girl needed to go by helicoptor to get her transplant.  I liked the plot and the story telling. The young girl, Michelle, who got the liver transplant is still alive and thriving! I give this movie a 10 out of 10. I loved it!

As you noticed I rated One Love an 8 out of 10. One being bad; ten being very good, The reason I gave One Love an eight was because I liked the music and Bob Marleys’s story. But it didn’t blow me away. The Elvis biopic, Elvis blew me away. I gave it a ten. The ten was because it was directed by Baz Luhrmann. And Austin Butler, who played Elvis, gyrated his hips perfectly just like Elvis. He got the accent and his speaking voice right; it felt like he really was Elvis. That’s why I gave it a ten. Fifty Shades of Gray was an awful movie. From the trailers I saw I thought it was too much, too intense. If I saw it on TV I would change the channel immediately. A movie like this I would give a one out of ten. If you guys saw One Love, what did you think? If you had a rating system, what would you rate it?

Back in Febuary I saw One Love the Bob Marley biopic. I saw it in East Hanover movie theater with a friend of mine. I was looking forward to it ever since I saw the trailer. I like some of Bob Marley’s music. It is Positive and mellow. It Makes me want to dance. I enjoyed the movie so much, that I saw it twice. The second time I saw it in Watchung. One Love was about the life and career of Bob Marley. He was a Reggae icon. He was married to Rita Marley who followed in his musical footsteps. They had a big family. They had 11 children. In fact, his son, Ziggy, was also a musician. He sang the theme song for the PBS show “Arthur” which ran from 1996 - 2022. My favorite part of the movie was when Bob and his band, The Whalers, sang I Shot the Sheriff. I also enjoyed when Bob and his band were in England.   February 11 was the Super Bowl and it had a lot of iconic moments. I watched the game as well as the commercials. I was a friend of mine’s Super Bowl party.  Kansas City vs. San Francisco  The San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs competed against each other. My favorite Super Bowl commercials were the Wicked trailer because I love that musical and Tina Fey for booking.com. It was the most watched Super Bowl commercial this year. It was funny that Glenn Close made a cameo.  Ariana Grande and  Cynthia Erivo as Glinda and Elphaba  Another commercial that I like is Dunkin’ Donuts with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. That was pretty cool.  Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez promoting Dunkin Donuts Coffee  Usher performed at the Super Bowl halftime show. He was pretty good. I had a Galantine’s day celebration at Benihana on Saturday night. I had a phenomenal time. I always was a fan of girls get togethers and hibachi. I came up with girls get togethers last September. Me and my female friends went to the Cheesecake Factory for my 28th birthday and we had a great time! When I hang out with my female friends, I feel very happy. I have a great time with them. For my next all girls get together, we are going to a farm for an Easter/Spring festival this March. I cannot wait for it!  Cheers! The gang is all here!  Me and Leila

  Hello everybody! This is my blog. I am blogging about current events, movies, pop culture, etc. I am doing this because I want to talk to everyone about what is going on. I recently saw the movie American Fiction in a local movie theater. I really liked it. It was a comedy drama.  The comedy parts made me laugh and the drama parts got me in awe. It made me think a lot about what people write about in books. It made me think about whether there should be a difference between a white writer and a writer of color.
