Movie review of Wicked Part One
On November 23rd, I saw Wicked Part One with my best friend in the theater in South Orange. It was based on the 2003 Broadway musical of the same name and a book by Gregory Maguire in 1995. It was about the backstory of Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch of the North. It takes place before the events of Dorothy Gale in the Wizard of Oz. The movie starts out with the opening number "No One Mourns the Wicked" and people celebrating the death of the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba. Then Glinda appears and confirms that Elphaba is dead. After Glinda tries to leave, someone asks her if Glinda and Elphaba were friends. She says yes and tells the people her and Elphaba's backstory. Glinda and Elphaba attended a college in Oz called Shiz University. Elphaba was dropping off her sister Nessarose who is in a wheelchair.
